HONEXT® Panel is a fibreboard manufactured entirely from upcycled cellulose-based waste fibres. The primary feedstock is paper mill sludge, a by-product generated during paper recycling processes. As paper recycling rates continue to increase, the volume of this waste stream is growing, with more than seven million tonnes produced annually across the European Union.
Developed for applications in the interior built environment, HONEXT® Panel combines circular material sourcing with functional performance. The panels are fully recyclable, non-toxic and contain no added volatile organic compounds (VOCs). They have been awarded Cradle to Cradle Certified® Silver and Material Health Certificate™ Silver certifications.
The material offers competitive mechanical and thermal properties, alongside acoustic benefits. Compared with many conventional building materials, the panels provide enhanced sound absorption and demonstrate resistance to moisture, water vapour and fire. The current fire classification is C-s1,d0 according to European standards.
HONEXT® Panels are produced using a bio-based manufacturing process that strengthens the natural bonds between cellulose fibres without the addition of synthetic resins. The production process is designed to be carbon neutral and generates no manufacturing waste, with all material inputs remaining within the production cycle.
